How sports can help prevent bleeds

It is much easier to prevent joint damage than to repair it after it has happened. In fact, once a joint is damaged, doctors may be able to slow down or stop additional damage, but they cannot make the joint like new. Both prophylaxis and sport can help to protect your joints.

Prophylaxis can prevent spontaneous bleeds and sport can help to strengthen your muscles and joints, which can also prevent bleeds. By preventing joint and muscle bleeds, your muscles and joints will suffer less damage, giving you the chance to get on with your life without haemophilia being such a big problem.1,2
